Seymour Mansfield, 80, of Martin, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at his residence.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Perkins and Rev. Bruce McCaleb officiating. Burial was in Cates Cemetery, Martin with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements.

Benjamin Wilkes, Tommy Mount, George Floyd, Roger Laird, Floyd Clemons and Larry Fowler served as pallbearers.

Mansfield was born Jan. 7, 1932 in Palmersville, son of the late Carmack Mansfield and Hallie McBee Mansfield Gray. He was a graduate of Bruce’s Business Institute, and retired from Turner Dairy after 40 years as personnel coordinator.  He was a charter member of Gideon International-Weakley County Camp and a member and served as a deacon for 37 years at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dolores Mansfield of Martin; one son, Steve (Marilyn) Mansfield of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Kay Wilkes of Union City and Lisa (Jim) Reynolds of Martin; two sisters, Carol Laird of Dresden and Jean Merritt of Henderson, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Abbey Wilkes Floyd, Benjamin Wilkes III, Bonnie Wilkes, Meredith Mansfield, Camille Spaulding, Jake Reynolds and Zack Reynolds; and one great-grandson, Benjamin Wilkes, IV.

He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Rev. Ben Wilkes; three brothers, John Mansfield, Billy Mansfield and Joe Mansfield; two sisters, Dorothy Eutsler and Kathy Evitts; and one grandson, Peter Wilkes.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church or Gideon International.
