ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals traded infielder Tyler Greene to the Houston Astros on Thursday for a player-to-be-named later or cash considerations.
Greene batted .218 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 77 games.
The Cardinals played with 24 players on their roster for Thursday’s game against San Francisco, a 3-1 Redbird victory.
Greene made an error at second base on Wednesday that led to two runs for the Giants, who had a five-run sixth inning en route to a 15-0 win.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama freshman wide receiver Chris Black will have shoulder surgery and miss 3-4 months.
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban says Black was injured in Sunday’s open practice at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The 5-foot-11, 178-pounder was the nation’s No. 2 receiver prospect coming out of Jacksonville, Fla., according to ESPNU. Black enrolled in January and went through spring practice.
Black was among a group of highly rated receiver signees for the defending national champion Crimson Tide, which is seeking to replace leading receivers Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks.
