15 teachers joined the Weakley County School System for the 2012-13 school year

WELCOME – The Weakley County School System welcomed 15 new teachers this school year. They included (front, from left) Mercy Mannberger-Ford, Martin Elementary School; Lauren Burress, Martin Primary School; Lacie Kelley, Martin Primary School; Ann Hopkins, Gleason School; Hillary Watson, Martin Middle School; Melissa Haynes, Martin Elementary School; Erin Warrilow, Dresden Middle School; Laura Silva, Dresden High School; Johnathan Deberry, Dresden High School; (back) Kayla Allen, Sharon School; Selena Bragg, Martin Elementary School; Abbie McClure, Martin Primary School; Will Cripps, Greenfield School; Donald Pitt, Greenfield School; and Samantha Elsner, Martin Middle School.

The 2012-13 school year officially kicked off Wednesday.

While elementary and primary schools welcomed new students, the Weakley County School System saw 15 new teachers.
Lauren Burress joined the staff at Martin Primary School as a first-grade teacher. Miss Burress is from Martin and received her bachelor of science degree in Integrated Studies PreK-3.
She enjoys reading, swimming and playing with her dog “Bruce.”
Hillary Watson joined the staff at Martin Middle School as a Science teacher. She received her bachelor of science degree in Secondary Education-Biology from UT Martin. Miss Watson enjoys cooking, fishing and coaching cheerleading. She is a Martin native.
Union City native Laura Silva is a Spanish I and II instructor at Dresden High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in Secondary Spanish from UT Martin. Miss Silva enjoys reading, yoga, walking and listening to music.
Melissa Haynes of Martin joined the staff at Martin Elementary School as a fifth-grade teacher. She is a 2012 graduate of UT Martin. Miss Haynes enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Lacie Kelley joined the staff at Martin Primary School as a first-grade teacher. Miss Kelley is a Dresden native. She received her bachelor of science in Education from UT Martin. She enjoys baby-sitting, running and swimming.
Martin native Abbie McClure joined the staff at Martin Primary School as a first-grade teacher. She received her bachelor of science degree in Integrated Studies from UT Martin. Miss McClure enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
Samantha Elsner joined the staff at Martin Middle School as a sixth-grade Math and Science teacher. She graduated from UT Martin. Miss Elsner enjoys music and reading. She is a native of Henry.
Martin Elementary School welcomed Selena Bragg as a fifth-grade teacher. She received her bachelor’s degree in Education K-8 from UT Martin. Miss Bragg enjoys being with her family and friends, travel and sporting events. She is from Martin.
Mercy Mannberger-Ford joined the Martin Elementary School as a fourth-grade Special Education teacher. She received her bachelor of science degree in Education from UT Martin. Miss Mannberger enjoys participating in Relay for Life events, traveling and going to concerts. Her hometown is Dresden.
Kayla Allen joined the staff at Sharon School as a pre-school Special Education teacher. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis. Miss Allen enjoys sporting events and being with family and friends. She is from Greenfield.
Erin Warrilow will begin her second year as a faculty member at Dresden Middle School. She will teach fifth-grade Science and Social Studies. Miss Warrilow earned her master’s degree from Bethel University. She enjoys spending with family. She is a Dresden native.
Ann Hopkins joined the staff at Gleason School as a high school Special Education teacher. She received her BSBA degree from the University of Arkansas. Miss Hopkins enjoys cycling and swimming. She is a Humboldt native.
Will Cripps joins the staff of Greenfield School as a high school Biology teacher. He earned his Master of Arts Education degree from Bethel University. He enjoys athletics, hunting, traveling and golf. Mr. Cripps is a Nashville native.
Johnathan Deberry joined the staff at Dresden High School as a Special Education teacher. He graduated from Bethel University. Mr. Deberry has been a professional baseball player and was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. He enjoys golfing, water sports and other recreational sports. He is a native of Lexington.
Donald Pitt joins the staff at Greenfield School as  P.E. teacher. He graduated from Lambuth University. Mr. Pitt enjoys hunting. He is a native of Greenfield.
