On Sept. 3, the annual Soybean Talent Show sponsored by WCMT and the Westview High School Key Club begins at 6 p.m. with the Under 8 age Division, the Junior Division for 9 to 12 age Division, and 22 and over Division.
At 7, the Mid-South Preliminary Division begins for contestants between the ages of 13 and 21 years of age.
Entry forms are available either online at the Soybean Festival website (www.tnsoybeanfestival.org) or from Linda Ramsey, show coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The entry fee is $20 per act, and anyone can enter the solo, group or variety categories. There will be awards given to the 1st and 2nd place in each division, and in the Mid-South Division there will be an Over-All Winner, and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.
The Over-all Winner of the Mid-South Division is invited to participate in the Mid-South Fair Talent Show in September, which will be held at the DeSoto Center just outside of Memphis in Desoto, Miss.
The talent scout will invite other acts to participate in the Mid-South Fair as well.
All contestants should have their CDs, and it would be wise to sing without accompaniment since that isn’t allowed in the Mid-South Fair Competition.
The deadline for entries is Aug. 31. All contestants should check-in an hour before the show begins. All proceeds will benefit leadership training and service projects of the Westview Key Club.
