Earlier this spring, Kaitlyn Sanders and Kayla Harris of Weakley County were chosen to attend the Tennessee 4-H Congress in Nashville. 4-H Congress is a conference for high school students to learn more about their government and how 4-H plays a role in that process.
The conference shows students how the Tennessee Senate and House of Representatives function. Both Ms. Sanders and Ms. Harris assumed the roles of senators for the state.
They were lead to the Capitol and were allowed to sit in the Senate chairs while taking part in the voting process. The students lauded the Weakley County UT Extension office for the opportunity to participate in this “amazing educational experience.”
