Shiloh National Military Park will host the “Fallen Commanders Bicycle Ride,” Saturday. Join Park Ranger Heather Smedley will lead the bicycle tour of Shiloh Battlefield and as guests learn the fate of several commanders, both Union and Confederate, who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Battle of Shiloh.
This interpretive bicycle tour will introduce visitors to leaders such as Confederate General Addley Gladden and Union Colonel Julius Raith, the roles they played during the battle, and if their fate affected the awful two day engagement. 
The bicycle ride will start at 9 a.m. Saturday and will last approximately two hours. Participants will need to bring their own bicycles, water and sunscreen. Anyone 16 years of age or younger, is required by law to wear a protective helmet. Register in advance by contacting the visitor center at (731) 689-5696. Published in The WCP 7.26.12
