Strong storms that blew through Thursday night caused power outages in scattered areas throughout Obion County and in other locations in West Tennessee.
The first outage began at 7:30 p.m. when about 1,200 Gibson Electric Membership Corp. members’ homes and businesses in Samburg, Hornbeak, South Fulton and Ridgely in Lake County experienced a power outage. Crews were immediately dispatched to make repairs.
By about 8:30 p.m., about 800 customers in Hornbeak, South Fulton and Ridgely were still without power. Shortly after 9 p.m., there were still about 400 without power in South Fulton and Hornbeak, as well as a new outage which affected about 900 members’ homes and businesses in Medina and Three Way.
A Gibson EMC spokesman said about 160 customers in South Fulton and about 30 in Medina were still without power shortly before 10 p.m. Strong storms downed trees in South Fulton and broke lines in multiple locations in Medina.
Crews restored power to the Medina customers at midnight and to the South Fulton customers at 12:35 a.m. today, a Gibson EMC spokesman said.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience while we made repairs,” the spokesman added.
