The Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council, in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture, will be distributing commodity foods on Thursday in Obion at the Obion Community Center from 9 a.m.-noon, Friday for Hornbeak and Samburg recipients at Hornbeak City Hall from 9 a.m.-noon., July 24 for Union City, Kenton and South Fulton recipients at the council office on 1015 East College St. 9 a.m.-noon. Distribution will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Recipients must have their green card.
“Please be aware that due to a shortage of inventory of some food that we have on hand, you may not receive the same number of items as someone else in the event a good item runs out. Starting in October 2012, we will no longer pre-pack the food, you will need to bring your own box or container to put your food in,” a spokesman said.
For more information on the Commodity Food Program, contact the Obion County Service Office at 885-0462 or go by the office. Published in The Messenger 7.17.12
