Pleasant Valley and Shady Grove United Methodist churches have welcomed their new pastor, the Rev. Caroline Farmer, to the community.
She was appointed by Bishop Ben Chamness and his cabinet and moved to Union City from Beech Grove United Methodist Church in Nashville, where she served as pastor for five years.
Ms. Farmer has a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville and recently completed the United Methodist Course of Study at Emory’s Candler School of Theology. She is in the process of being commissioned an associate member of the United Methodist Church.
She served as the director of Lay Speaking Ministries for the Cumberland District in the Tennessee Conference prior to answering the call to full-time ministry. She has three grown children who reside in the Nashville area and three granddaughters.
The Pleasant Valley and Shady Grove congregations invite the public to worship with them and their new pastor. Worship at Shady Grove, located at 5134 Virgin Road near Union City, is 9:15 a.m., while Pleasant Valley, located at 1422 Pleasant Valley Ave. in Union City, meets at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.
