TOWN AND GOWN – The first-ever “town and gown” fundraiser to benefit the Sculpture Soundscape of Martin was a success and surpassed its $5,000 goal. Local business owners, businesses and community members turned out for the event held at the former site of Virgin’s Nursery in Union City Friday evening to help raise money for the project created by artist Jason Stout (left), 3-D artist Clint Riley (right) and percussion expert Julie Hill (not pictured). The Historic Martin Sculpture Soundscape will be located in Festival Park in downtown Martin and is considered “playable art.” The event raised more than $6,000.
