Local retired teachers attend state meeting | Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association

Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association president Alice Fennel and Mary Dunavant attended the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association meeting in Murfreesboro recently.  
President Morris Fair Sr. called the meeting to order with a minute of meditation. Ron Pendergrass led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the necrology service.  
Obion County-Union City retired teachers Jean Dallas, Irene Howell, Juanita Mass, Bettye Scott, Kathleen Sowell and Lucile Thompson were honored for their service to education and their community. After the service, a bell was rung three times.
New and old business was attended to. Lunch was served at noon.
Jerry Winters was the guest speaker. He represents the retired teachers on the hill in Nashville. Fair gave the president’s report and JoAnn Smith was installed as the 2012-13 president.  
The meeting was adjourned until 2013.
