JACKSON (AP) — Jackson State Community College in Tennessee has been designated as a national center of academic excellence in information assurance.
The National Security Agency awarded the honor, the only one given to a two-year institution in Tennessee.
According to a news release from the school, graduates of such programs often develop into cyber experts who help protect national security information systems, commercial networks and others in both the private and public sectors.
Jackson State officials said they worked six years to get the designation. Fifty-two colleges and universities earned the distinction.
