RICHWOOD, Ky. (AP) — A deputy sheriff in northern Kentucky pulled a disabled man from a burning home, saving his life.
Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Tanner was called to the home in Richwood early Wednesday when he got a call that a wheelchair-bound man was trapped in a fire. He saw smoke coming out of the bedroom window and kicked down the front door to get inside.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports Tanner went into a room and saw a bed on fire. He heard a moan coming from the floor and saw a foot sticking out from a blanket. He dragged the man out of the bedroom.
The man, 66-year-old Michael Mallory, who is paralyzed, was conscious and taken to a nearby hospital. He was treated for smoke inhalation and released.
