Event canceled
Soul Food Cafe at Exchange Street Church of Christ for Wednesday has been canceled. Organizers wish the community a happy Independence Day. The event will resume in August.

Gospel singing set
A gospel singing, featuring Dawn Tittle, Holly Tittle Turner and Jamie Worrell, will be held at Sunswept Baptist Church in Union City Sunday at 6 p.m.
A love offering will be received, with all the proceeds to be used toward the medical expenses of Bill Hatchett.

To pray for nation
On July 4, First Church of God, located at 415 South Miles Ave. in Union City, will be opened 7-9 p.m. for anyone who would like to come and pray for the nation.
Residents are also welcome to bring their families and park on the church parking lot to watch the city’s fireworks.
The Rev. Ron Gray, pastor, and the congregation offer an invitation to all.

To play washers
Mount Ararat Cumber-land Presbyterian Church will be having a picnic and washer throwing tournament on Saturday at the church.
Donations will go toward the stained-glass window fund. This event begins at 5 p.m.

Fun Friday slated
Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, located at 720 East College St., Union City, will offer a waterslide Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. as part of its Summer Feeding Program for children from birth to age 18.
Breakfast is served 8-9, while lunch is available 11-1 Monday through Friday.

Homecoming slated
Shiloh Missionary Baptist will be observing its 64th annual Homecoming Sunday, with minister Mitchell Churchwell as the morning speaker and the Rev. James Jones and congregation from Mount Herman Missionary Baptist Church of Woodlawn Mills as the afternoon guest.
Dinner will be served upon the arrival of the guests. Everyone is invited to attend. John Brooks is the host pastor.

Brundages to minister
Hardy and Marianne Brundage of Texas will be ministering Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Manna Ministries on the Ken-Tenn Highway near Union City.
They travel and minister extensively, preaching and singing, throughout the United States.
“They are a true blessing to the body of Christ,” a spokesman said.
