Rural fire Q&A planned

Members of the Samburg Volunteer Fire Department will be on hand from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the fire department to answer questions concerning Samburg’s new rural fire membership program.
The Samburg mayor and board of aldermen recently approved the rural fire program as recommended by Samburg Fire Chief Ken Hogg. Under the membership program, residents in Samburg’s rural fire district can pay a $75 annual membership fee for fire protection.
The membership program means the fire department will respond to all fires within its rural fire district, but the fee will be signficantly higher for non-members. Rural fire program members will be charged $500 per fire call while non-members will pay a minimum of $2,000 per call.
