Obion will be celebrating in patriotic style on Saturday with a variety of events scheduled throughout the evening.
Obion Freedom Fest will be held in Eddie Huey Memorial Park in downtown Obion.
This year’s celebration will feature a new event — a motorcycle run scheduled for the afternoon.
Sign-up for the motorcycle run will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the run will begin at 3:30 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee, which covers a T-shirt and entry in the bike show and parade.
There will be a kids parade starting at 5 p.m., followed by judging of bikes and a meal.
There will be a salute to veterans at 6 in the park. The salute has become a traditional ceremony scheduled as part of Obion’s celebration.
A gospel singing is set for 6:30, followed by a street dance featuring the local band Dwayne Butler and Young Country performing on a stage set up in the street across from the downtown park.
A cash drawing will be held at 10 and throughout the evening there will be cake walks, food from Fast Mac’s and other activities.
The Obion Freedom Fest is being sponsored by the Obion Industrial Board.
For more information about any of the events, contact organizers Dana Hutchens at 446-9081 or Rodney Underwood at 445-6827.
“We’re looking forward to a big turnout. It’s going to be a lot of fun and we always have a big time,” Mrs. Hutchens said.
