LOCKS OF LOVE — Cassidy Taylor, 10, daughter of Jim and Cande Taylor of Troy, recently donated her hair for the second time to Locks of Love in honor of her big brother, Derek Taylor, a cancer survivor. She will be a fifth-grader at Black Oak Elementary when school resumes in August. She was assisted with her donation by Amanda Weaks at Blondie’s in Troy. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada younger than the age of 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Locks of Love meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. For more information on Locks of Love, visit www.locksoflove.org.
