The Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild in Kentucky presents its summer exhibition, a themed show titled “The End of the World As We Know It.” The show was open for anyone to participate, and is made up of artwork by 17 different artists.
“With all the hype about the year 2012, it seemed like the perfect topic for a themed show. ‘The End of the World As We Know It’ doesn’t have to mean a total end, and it doesn’t have to mean destruction. Artists were given the freedom to present the subject any way they wished. There are works in the exhibition that depict destruction, but there are also pieces that show hope and progress. The one idea that is present in all of the artwork is change,” a spokesman said.
For some of the artists, the work they submitted were made especially for this show and are a departure from their normal subjects and style.
