Mr. Robert Lewis “Bobby” Norris, 81, of Woodland Mills died 3:55 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services were to be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Lake Road Baptist Church near Union City. Brother Jerry Leggett and Brother Chip Davis were to officiate. Burial was to follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers for Mr. Norris were Richard Ledford, James Cruce, Carol Thomas, Robert McCullough, Roger Dunn, Darold Gamblin and Deron Sturgeon. Honorary pallbearers were James Palmer, Norval Cranford, James Henson and Stanley Parker.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Norris was born April 20, 1931, in Tiptonville, son of the late John Love Norris Sr. and the late Izella (Finley) Norris. He married the former Betty Williams. She survives.
Mr. Norris was a charter member of Lake Road Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He had been employed at the former Reelfoot Packing Company and was a farmer.
He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Michelle Costello of Union City; two sisters, Helen Jean Norris Hyde of Union City and Doris Ruth Norris Albin of Memphis; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles T. “Tinker” and Peggy Norris of Tiptonville; his step-granddaughter, Allie Costello of Union City; his step-grandson, Seth Stepp of South Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine (Johnson) Norris; two sisters, Mary Ann Norris and Virginia Dare Norris Colvard; and three brothers, Joe Finley Norris, John Love “Goat” Norris Jr. and George Bitner “Sonny” Norris.
