Collins records ace
at Poplar Meadows
Lowell Collins of Union City recorded a hole in one Wednesday at Poplar Meadows Country Club.
Using a 5-wood, he aced the 175-yard No. 12 hole.
Witnessing the historic shot were Charles Denaburg and Bob Sanner.
Weekly Troy event
close at the top
The Wynridge Golf Course held its weekly scramble Thursday with the winning team shooting 7-under par.
The winning team included Dale Batchelor, Rodney Jones, Doug Cunningham and Jim Yates.
In second place after shooting 6-under par was the team of Bim Barker, Bryan Barker, Bob Chappell and Damon Campbell.
The men’s scramble, is held each Thursday.
Summer Slam at UC
draws local entries
Union City and Graham Park will be hosting the annual Summer Slam Baseball Tournament this weekend.
Action is scheduled to begin this evening at 6 and continue through late afternoon Sunday.
Three age groups will be participating in the event — 5-6-year-olds, 7-8-year-olds, and 9-10 year-olds.
Teams from Dresden, Dyer County, Dyersburg, Gleason, Huntingdon, Martin, South Fulton and UC will participate. | | | | |
