Conrad Marcelius Haaland Jr., 82, of Union City died at 6:31 p.m. June 3, 2012, at Regional Hospital at Memphis.
Memorial services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at First Assembly of God in Union City. The Rev. Tommy Hall will officiate.
Inurnment will follow in the columbarium at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
He was born July 7, 1929, in Montevideo Chippewa, Minn., son of the late Conrad Marcelius Haaland Sr. and the late Gunhild Johanna (Jacobsen) Haaland. He married the former Cornelia Wilhelmina Francina (Rondeau) Haaland on Nov. 28, 1974. She survives. He was employed as a civil service naval engineer for 36 years and was employed as a engineer for Lockheed Martin in San Diego for 10 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Union City. He was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Sonoma, Calif., where he had served as a deacon, bus driver and taught a young men’s leadership class. He was a toastmaster for 20 years and a square dance caller. He served in the United States Army.
He is also survived by three daughters, Jeanne Vincent of Seguin, Texas, Esther Bea of Junction City, Kan., and Erica Nater of Newberry, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; and one brother.
