A Union City restaurant manager being sought on a theft charge was apprehended over the weekend in Middle Tennessee.
Michael Lynch, 22, was arrested early Saturday in Murfreesboro and brought back to Union City, where he was lodged in the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex.
He was to be arraigned today at 1 p.m., according to Union City Police Department investigator Derrick O’Dell.
Union City police announced Thursday they were searching for Lynch, identified as a closing manager at the local Wendy’s restaurant, as they also continued to investigate the disappearance of money from the restaurant. Lynch had disappeared earlier last week and was initially classified as missing.
Friday, O’Dell said Lynch had been sighted in Memphis and his status had changed “from missing to wanted.” He said Lynch’s family had been cooperative.
A warrant was obtained charging Lynch with theft over $1,000 in connection with the disappearance of the money from the local Wendy’s restaurant, according to O’Dell.
The manager of Wendy’s at 1401 South First St. in Union City had filed a report about 8 a.m. Tuesday in reference to missing money. During the investigation, police discovered Lynch was also missing.
Last contact with Lynch apparently was a phone call made to his wife just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, police reported last week.
