Drug charges levied

Drug charges were levied against three Union City men after police observed suspicious activity on the parking lot of a local convenience store.
Arrested shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of West Reelfoot Avenue in Union City were Edward Lee Taylor Brady, 23, of 2723 East Reelfoot Ave., Union City; James Orlando Hubbard III, 31, of 721 South Sunswept Drive, Apt. 4, Union City; and Antonio Terrell Stephens, 36, of 408 North Home St., Union City.
According to Union City Police Department reports, officers were driving through the parking lot of Pockets Shell at 1605 West Reelfoot Ave. when they observed an alleged transaction involving marijuana between Brady, who was leaning on the window of a vehicle, and Stephens, identified as the vehicle’s passenger.
The driver, identified as Hubbard, exited the vehicle and was trying to walk away when he was arrested by police. Brady and Stephens were also taken into custody.
Police recovered a baggy of marijuana that had allegedly been dropped on the ground by Stephens and ripped open during an alleged attempt to kick it under the vehicle.
Police also discovered in Stephens’ possession a small baggy of a white powder which tested positive for cocaine and later found a baggy containing marijuana in Hubbard’s underwear at the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex, according to the reports.
Hubbard was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance for resale, fifth offense driving on a suspended license and introduction of contraband into a penal facility. Brady was charged with possession of marijuana and public intoxication, while Stephens was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance for resale and tampering with evidence.
Police seized the vehicle and cash.
