Willard J. James, 84, passed away in San Diego May 28, 2012.
He was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Obion County, son of the late Hervie F. and Pollyanne (Brown) James. He was the grandson of the late Dock and Memmie James.
He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He attended school in Obion County before he entered the U.S. Navy in 1943.
He was stationed in Guam and remained there after his discharge in 1949. While living in Guam, he owned and operated James trucking business for many years, until he moved to the Philippines where he owned a Pepsi distributorship.
It was there he met and married his wife and remained until 2011, when he returned to the states, residing in San Diego until his death.
He was preceded in death by his half brother, Billy Fain James.
He is also survived by two nieces, Cindy Simpson and Stacey James; and their children, as well as many cousins.
He will be interred in Miramar Cemetery in San Diego with full military honors.
