Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak and his staff will host the 11th annual Titans High School Coaching Clinic on June 12 at Baptist Sports Park.
Attendees will have the opportunity to get a close-up view of Titans position coaches working with their players during one of the 10 offseason training activities (OTA) to kick off the morning.
Following the OTA and lunch, the classroom portion of the clinic will begin with Munchak addressing the group, followed by comments from Jerry Gray (defensive coordinator), Chris Palmer (offensive coordinator) and Alan Lowry (special teams coach).
Steve Watterson (assistant head coach/strength & conditioning) will address the importance of proper conditioning and head athletic trainer Brad Brown will review the latest information regarding hydration and other safety issues.
Following those group presentations, participants will have the opportunity to talk strategy with the Titans position coaches in break-out sessions.
Once the classroom sessions are complete, the action resumes outdoors where Titans coaches will provide instructions on specific drills and techniques.
A new twist was added to last year’s clinic which proved to be very popular and will be repeated this year.
High school coaches will have the opportunity to submit in advance the topics they would like to have discussed during the clinic.
The clinic’s registration page includes the opportunity to submit their suggestions.
Munchak and his staff will review those suggestions and incorporate some of the material into their sessions.
“I’ve participated in all of our previous clinics and it’s a great opportunity for our staff to share ideas and concepts with high school coaches from our area,” said Munchak.
“The time we have on the field with our players is always a highlight of the clinic and we’re excited to have that element on this year’s schedule.”
Registration is tentatively set for 10 a.m. followed by the OTA at 11 a.m. (time subject to change, confirmed in early June).
All activities will be held at Baptist Sports Park, 460 Great Circle Road, Nashville, 37228.
Registration fee is $30 and includes lunch and a give-a-way.
Space is limited to 125 high school coaches.
The registration form is online at www.titansonline.com.
The Titans’ 2012 season opens Sept. 9 at home against New England.
