Resonance-Soundscape Sculpture is a one-of-a-kind structure with an original design. Local designers have created a sketch and plans are under way to construct the soundscape in Festival Park near the gazebo in downtown Martin. To raise funds for the construction, a benefit is planned for June 22 at the former location of Virgin’s Nursery in Union City. Live music will be provided by the local group, Diet 27 (Matt Adams, Micah Barnes and Julie Hill). Wine and heavy appetizers will be served at the event, which is set to begin at 7 p.m. that day.
Tickets are $20 per person and are available at the Opera House, Weakley County Press and from members of the committee. There are also a limited number of sponsorships available for $250, which include four tickets, advertisement on tabletop tents, acknowledgement during the auction and live entertainment that evening, and social media and printed media coverage. The design team consists of UT Martin professors Jason Stout and Julie Hill, local artist and business owner Clint Riley, as well as structural building consultant UT Martin Dean of Engineering Dr. Rich Helgeson. The fundraiser is sponsored by Historic Downtown Martin-Tennessee Downtowns Community and Crystal and Charles Meade.
