2012 MPD CPA graduates

COMMUNITY MEMBERS GRADUATE FROM CITIZEN’S POLICE ACADEMY – Members of the 23rd session of the Martin Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy received graduation certificates May 3 at the Martin Recreation Complex. The CPA is a chance for citizens who live or work in Martin to get a first-hand view of the operations of the Martin Police Department. After graduating, citizens have a better understanding of what police officers face every day. The class met one night a week for nine weeks. Topics of instruction included use of force, undercover drug operations, crime scene investigation, DUI enforcement, criminal law, firearms and other areas pertaining to the day-to-day operations of the department. Also during the nine-week session, students were required to ride with a Martin Police officer at least two times during the course of the academy. More than 450 citizens have graduated from the CPA program since its inception in 1993. This year’s graduates were Charity Riley, Clint Riely, Bryan Skaggs, Kim Gallimore, Jackie Siler-Bell, Cindy Elder, Sherry Sturkie, Blake White, Pam Pate, Noah Shephard, Brad Coble, Kendall Maybry, Ashley Wade, Stan Johnson, Jo Ann Dolack, Jessica Rupp, Tonia Cox, Steve Butler, Cathy Brown, Jesse Gibson, Theresa Cook, Ben Everett, Marty Guthrie, Carrie Guthrie, Bobbi White, Floyd Clemons, Jeff Hart, Ronald Plunk, Gary Capers and Jonathan Evans.
