Will paper fall like a stone? How high will the ball bounce? Fifty students in grades 6-8 will have the opportunity to answer these questions and more using hands-on experiments at the first-ever STEMulation Camp June 18-22 at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Each day, students will work in teams on activities organized into four major topics — Forces and Motion on Earth and in Space, Environment, Living Things and Energy. These experiences will prepare them for four team competitions the final day.
The competitions will include the Adventures in Duct Tape Competition, the Egg Drop Competition, the Spaghetti Bridge Competition and the Tower Competition. Prizes will be awarded to winners and parents may attend the competitions at 3:30 p.m. June 22.
For more information or to register, call (731) 881-7082 or 881-7081 or visit www.utm.edu/departments/ecce/nondegree/stemulation_camp.php.
The registration fee for the camp is $125 and includes a T-shirt and all supplies. Enrollment is limited to the first 50 registrations with confirmed payment.
STEMulation Camp is under the direction of Dr. Louis Glover, UT Martin assistant professor of education.
