Robert and Jenny Kirkland will be opening their lovely gardens for an early summer tour filled with color, fragrance and beauty June 9 from 5-7 p.m. The Kirkland gardens, located at 760 Sanders Chapel Road near Union City, will feature members of Master Gardeners, stationed at various locations on the path that winds through the area, to explain features and foliage guests will encounter. Tickets are $25 each or $40 per couple and $50 for a family. All proceeds will go to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee. Kirkland (standing at left) and John Abernathy, (center) a Master Gardener, recently enjoyed the gardens with club Chief Professional Officer Vencent Bell and Linda Simrell, who is in charge of ticket sales for the event. Tickets may be purchased at Lanzer’s Printing and Office Supply in downtown Union City, at the Boys & Girls Club at 1015 East College St., from board members, from Mrs. Simrell or at the door on the day of the event. “These gardens are as lovely as those associated with some of the finest homes and estates in the country and it will be an unforgettable experience to walk through them, hear the delightful stories attached to various areas and to simply sit and drink in the beauty,” Mrs. Simrell said. “Visitors will be delighted with the experience and we are grateful for the Kirklands’ generosity in opening their grounds for the pleasure of their friends and neighbors.”
