| The organizations that brought families together for free events throughout the warmer months last year is gearing up for its kick-off to Family Night Out. Beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday until 9, Historic Downtown Martin will once again feature a free Family Night Out at Weldon Park behind the post office in downtown Martin. Local band Hillbilly Rich, made up of Jonathan McDowell of Gleason, lead vocals and guitar; Ruth Nunnery of Camden, female vocals; Larry Nunnery of Camden, bass and sound tech; Brandon Rice of Union City on the drums; and lead guitarist Brian Holder of Jackson will take the stage that evening. HBR provides a combination of country music, Southern rock and blues. Aaron’s game truck will be on hand for some rounds of miniature basketball game. Clowns Oogie and Oogles Piddlepops will also provide entertainment for the family. Concessions are courtesy of Nikki Lee Concessions. Event-goers can feast on deep-fried Oreos, funnel cakes, hand-dipped corndogs and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Community members are invited to this year’s inaugural Family Night Out event for an evening of food, fun and fellowship for the entire family.
