Preston Eugene Tucker, 71, of Dresden died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden with Bro. Terry Griffin officiating. Burial was in Bible Union Cemetery in Martin.
Eric Tilley, Eddie Needham, Alvin Shopher, Donnie Essary, Bill Moon and Dale Moon served as pallbearers.
Tucker was born March 8, 1941, in Weakley County, son of the late Alphis James and Janie Goodgine Tucker. He was a self-employed heavy machine and dozer operator. He was a member of the National Guard, member of Corinth Baptist Church in Sharon, but attended Bible Union Baptist Church, Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rachel Shopher Tucker of Dresden; one daughter, Tammy (Stacy L.) Owensby of Martin; one stepdaughter, Linda (Eddie) Needham of Dresden; two sisters, Rebecca Moon of Jackson and Era Sue Tucker of Dresden; one brother, Richard Tucker of Paducah, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Matt Owensby of Ft. Carson, Colo., Amber Owensby and Tanner Owensby, both of Martin.
