James Wesley Cherry Sr., 74, of Martin died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin with Bro. Wayne Spencer and Bro. Russell Cherry officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Greenfield.
Family served as pallbearers.
Cherry was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Martin, son of the late Edmond Brent and Lola Brown Cherry. He was a locomotive electrician for Burlington Railroad and a Pentecostal.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Brenda Lynn Wilson Cherry of Martin; three sons, Troy Cherry, Jimmy Cherry and Daniel Cherry, all of Chicago; one daughter, Melody Cherry of California; one stepdaughter, Cincy Wilson of Chicago; three brother, Russell Gene Cherry Sr. of Palmersville, Bobbie Joe Cherry of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ronald Douglas McArthur Cherry of Ozark, Ala.; two sisters, Mary Charlene Haughton of Chicago and Nancy Ann Walls of Humboldt; four grandsons; and one great-grandson.
