Counterfeit $100 bills were discovered at two Union City businesses in recent days.
Police responded Monday afternoon to a complaint of counterfeit money at Subway at 206 East Reelfoot Ave., according to a Union City Police Department report.
Subway management told police five individuals came in and made a purchase using a $100 bill between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Friday. Employees checked to indicate the bill was real. A short time later, an employee took a deposit to Regions Bank, where the bill was discovered to be counterfeit.
An employee at Regions Bank told police another counterfeit bill was deposited Saturday by Family Video.
Police went to Family Video at 1310 South First St., where employees said they’d received the counterfeit bill from an unknown person.
