Obion County students in the seveth and eighth grades will have the opportunity to attend 4-H Ed-Venture Camp this summer.
The fun-filled week will be held July 3-6 at Ridley 4-H Center in Columbia.
Campers will rally with team members to win team challenges and unleash talents and skills by acquiring knowledge and skills to help them get where they want to be. Campers may enjoy an Olympic-size, crystal-clear pool with a 120-foot, figure-8 water slide; a lighted sports complex with a softball field; and volleyball and basketball courts. Other facilities include a wildlife center, covered rifle range, airbrush center, a creek for aquatic exploration, modern archery range with 3-D targets and an 18-hole miniature golf course.
An outdoor theater is the backdrop for campfires and vespers. A canteen offers refreshing snack items. Campers will also discover the value of friendship while meeting campers and leaders who will become lifelong friends.
“When they get home, campers will rave about the great time they had,” Obion County University of Tennessee Extension agent Una Johnson said.
Any child completing grades seven through eight this year are eligible to attend. It makes no difference if the child attends city or county schools or is home schooled.
Cost of camp is $220. This fee includes the costs for transportation, lodging, meals and a camp T-shirt. Additional money will be needed for snacks, crafts and souvenirs.
Visit the Obion County Extension Service located at 302 South Third St. in Union City or call 885-3742 and ask for an application. Contact Mrs. Johnson for more information.
The deadline for all applications and fees is June 15.
