UT Martin dropped its final home contest of the 2012 baseball season Wednesday, falling 5-0 to Belmont at Skyhawk Field.
Grant Glasser and Chase Okey each recorded multi-hit outings for UT Martin (12-35), while Jordan Owen also reached base twice for the Skyhawks. Wade Collins accounted for UT Martin’s other hit, a pinch-hit single in the ninth inning.
On the mound, the trio of Stu Jones (12⁄3 innings), Taylor Cox (one-third) and Carter Smith (two) combined for four shutout innings out of the bullpen.
Jones did not allow a hit while fanning two, Cox came up with a strikeout and Smith conceded only two singles tonight. Senior starting pitcher Danny Kelley was hit with the loss after allowing five earned runs while fanning four in five innings.
Kelley pitched around a one-out, bases loaded jam in the second, bouncing back with a pair of strikeouts to end the inning. The Bruins scored once in the top of the third and came away with a two-out two-run homer in the top of the fourth to make the score 3-0.
