Martin mayor’s mom passes at age 90

Martin Mayor Randy Brundige and his family will bid their final farewell to the family’s matriarch Friday.
Brundige’s mom, Maidelle, died Wednesday at Martin Health Care. She was 90 years old.
Her husband, Ham, preceded her death. He also served as the City of Martin’s mayor, as well as county executive.
Funeral services and the visitation are set for Friday at Central Baptist Church.

Former Sharon police cheif dies

A man with an illustrious career in law enforcement in Weakley County has died at the age of 71.
Bob Johnson served with the Martin Police Department before retiring from the Sharon Police Department as chief of police.
Johnson’s list of credentials include graduation from the FBI National Police Academy; captain with the University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Safety and Security and chief of the Mississippi University for Women Department of Safety.
He died Wednesday at his home in Martin. Services will be held this weekend.
