GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP — The Martin Beautiful Committee and the Weakley County Litter Grant Program initiated a city-wide Great American Cleanup event for City of Martin April 2. The Tennessee Rollerz motorcycle club, Martin Beautiful team, and The Social Club of Martin, traveled the city streets to help rid the area of unsightly debris and litter. A total of 470 pounds were picked up by these organizations.  The City of Martin and the Weakley County Litter Grant Program, along with litter supervisor Deborah James, provided garbage bags, gloves and litter grabbers for the event. This effort was part of the Great American Cleanup, that is currently under way until May 31. The day-long event ended at the UTM Recycles! center where Mike Davis, Recycle Center supervisor welcomed the groups. Participating in the event that day were (in random order) members of the Tennessee Rollerz and The Social Club of Martin Donny Robinson, Greg Blair, Dewayne Wilkins, Chad Avery, Myra Phelps, Sherol Sebring, Donell Jones, Earnest Daniels; Martin Beautiful Committee members Ernest and Penny Moser, Caroline Deck, and Led Symmes; and City of Martin Codes Enforcement officer Kenny Edwards.
