| BUILDING THE ARSENAL AGAINST CANCER – Beverly Keen of Martin spent a few minutes out of her day last week contributing a blood sample and filling out a questionnaire as a part of the third American Cancer Society research study. People across the country are being to participate in the long-term study, which monitors via surveys and physical information, a person’s history and lifestyle in relation to cancer. People who are between the ages of 30 and 65 and who have never been diagnosed with cancer are being asked to participate. The study is expected to last at least 20-30 years. The ACS uses information from the study as a weapon to help fight and prevent cancer. The next enrollments for the study will take place May 15 from 3-6:30 p.m. and May 16 from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the C.E. Weldon Public Library in downtown Martin. Last week’s enrollment was 78. The goal for the Weakley County region is 200 people. For more information, visit www.cps3martin.org. WCP 5.08.12 | | | |
