An inmate who fled Tuesday from a court appearance in Fulton County, Ky., was later captured.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department reported about 9 a.m. Tuesday that inmate Daniel Whitson, 32, of Tiptonville had fled on foot from Fulton County District Court during a court appearance, according to the Kentucky State Police.
The sheriff’s department contacted the KSP and requested a dog to assist in locating Whitson. Before troopers arrived, a perimeter had already been established by the sheriff’s department, Hickman Police Department and Fulton County Detention Center deputy jailers.
Shortly after the dog and its KSP handler arrived, the KSP trooper and a member of the jail staff simultaneously located the escapee in a heavily wooded area. He was taken back to the Fulton County Detention Center and lodged with an additional charge of second-degree escape, according to the KSP.
