The OneMain Financial branch at 1441 South First St. will be collecting clothing donations. Donations will be turned over to Goodwill at the end of the month. OneMain Financial’s partnership with Goodwill Industries reflects the philanthropic and community-oriented mindset engrained in OneMain Financial’s corporate culture, according to a news release. Employees leverage their professional skills and experience by volunteering their time directly to non-profit agencies and other community organizations. “Sharing a like-minded vision with Goodwill Industries, OneMain Financial is helping to make the neighborhoods where we do business better places to live and work,” CitiFinancial North America and OneMain Financial president and CEO Mary McDowell said. “We have a strong tradition of supporting local organizations that help those in need, and we are excited area residents will be joining us in this effort during our Customer Appreciation Days.” Donations play a vital role in Goodwill’s ability to fulfill its mission of helping people go to work. To pay for its programs, Goodwill sells donated goods in more than 2,600 stores in the U.S., Canada and online. The revenue collection from each store stays within that community, providing job training programs, employment placement programs and community-based programs. “Goodwill’s partnership with OneMain Financial will provide a meaningful opportunity to reach its millions of emloyees and customers, and not only to increase donations, but to engage a new audience of donors and shoppers,” Goodwill Industries International president and CEO Jim Gibbons said. Goodwill Industries International is a network of 165 community-based agencies in the U.S. and Canada, with 14 affiliates in 13 others countries. OneMain Financial (formerly CitiFinancial) is based in Baltimore, Md., and provides personalized loan solutions and one-on-one local service at more than 1,300 branches nationwide.
