Completed arrangements are being announced for Bob “Spider” Rives, 73, of Union City, who died 3:20 p.m. May 6, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be noon Thursday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. The Revs. Paul Adams and Jerry Leggett will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.
At Mr. Rives’ request, cremation will follow the service.
Memorials may take the form of donations to the veterans service organization of the donor’s choice.
He was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Obion County, son of the late Martha (Davidson) and Clifford Hale Rives Jr. He married the former Wanda Adams Sept. 2, 1962. She survives. Bob was an avid golfer and sailor, having been a competitive sail boat racer for many years. He was a regular at the Bennett’s Backroom Coffee Club.
He was a retired, self-employed cardiac care representative in Jacksonville, Fla. He had served in the U.S. Navy for 8 1/2 years.
He is also survived by two sons, Cliff Rives of Jacksonville, Fla., and Rob Rives of New York City; two sisters and his brothers-in-law, Anna Ruth Crocker and George Easley, both of Union City, and Linnie and Joe Burns of Brandon, Miss.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Easley.
