Two separate injury accidents occurred in Union City over the weekend.
Raneshia N. Warren, 17, of 1219 Moscow Ave., Hickman, Ky., was charged with following improperly after she allegedly rear-ended a vehicle driven by Samuel L. Wrye, 46, of 614 Vienna St., Metropolis, Ill., on North Taylor Street.
According to a report at the Union City Police Department, Wrye slowed to attempt to turn into 211 North Taylor St. when his vehicle was struck from behind by Ms. Warren, who reportedly left the scene.
Wrye’s passenger, Willie D. Davis, 61, of 123 North Jernigan Drive, Union City, was having trouble breathing and medical personnel responded. He refused to be transported to the emergency room.
In an accident on Saturday, three people were injured in an accident at the intersection of Highway 51 and North Morgan Street.
James H. Williams, 71, of 203 Kist Ave., Dyersburg, and his passenger, Francis Williams, 71, of the same address, were transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City by ambulance for injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle, Grace Michelle Allen, 20, of 5335 Contest Road, Paducah, Ky., was transported to the hospital by law enforcement.
According to the report, Williams stopped at the intersection, then proceeded through the intersection after failing to see Ms. Allen’s vehicle, which was traveling north on Highway 51, causing the accident.
Ms. Allen said after the collision she attempted to pull the vehicle to the side of the road but could not regain control. Her vehicle left the roadway, traveled downhill, went through a wire fence and struck the CBK building.
Williams was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
