A local teenager told police he was assaulted Wednesday evening on Second Street in downtown Union City.
Police responded at 4:42 p.m. to the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City, where a 17-year-old boy claimed he was assaulted a short time earlier on Second Street beside the U.S. Post Office, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The teen told police he was walking beside the Post Office when two unknown black men wearing all black clothing started asking him questions. He said the men started “getting smart” with him, so he started saying things back to them. He said he was then “jumped” by both of them, police reported.
The boy had injuries to his face, including a cut over one eye and a black eye, and he reported his left side was hurting.
Police reported the victim said he did not know the suspects, but he said they looked to be 15 to 16 years old.
