On May 19, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Obion County and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste Day Event at Obion County Recycle Center. The site is located on 1003B Mt. Zion Road in Union City.
The event will be accepting items from automotive/marine products, home maintenance/improvement products, home lawn/garden products and miscellaneous items.
Medical/infectious wastes, ammunition/explosives, radioactive wastes (including smoke detectors), any empty containers or waste from non-household sources such as businesses, schools, farms and churches will not be accepted.
Businesses that meet the CESQG “Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator” program guidelines may piggy-back this event, a spokesman said. These generators can work directly with the State Contractor Clean Harbors by calling to set up an appointment for that day at (615) 643-3170 or by email at TNCESQG@cleanharbors.com.
