Odis Carmichael of Martin will celebrate his 90th birthday on Sunday from 3-4 p.m. at the Bible Union Baptist Church Activities Building in Martin.
The celebration will be hosted by his children, Barbara Castleman, Jimmy Carmichael and Mark Carmichael.
Carmichael is the son of the late Margie Crittendon Carmichael and the late Major Carmichael of Martin.
He was born in Ralston, graduated from Union City High School and then joined the Army-Air Force, where he was a B-24 bomber pilot during WWII.
After being discharged from the armed services, he brought his bride, Nell Smith, who he met at Sears in Memphis, back to Ralston, where he and his father milked cows and farmed.
He and his wife were very active at Bible Union Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and where they worked with many young people throughout the years.
The couple also worked with the 4-H Club at Ralston and Carmichael was president of the Ralston Community Club. In addition, he was county magistrate in District 18.
Among other things, Ralston was also a substitute mail carrier and district director for the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service.
All family and friends are invited to attend this celebration. Published in The WCP 5.1.12
