Union City claimed four first-place finishes at Friday’s prep track meet in Dyersburg.
Daniel Williamson claimed half of those top spots by winning the 1,600 and 800 meter runs, clocking 4:51 in the 1,600 and 2:09.3 in the 800.
Deondrez Williams won the 400-meter run in 51.2 to give the Golden Tornado boys three wins en route to a fourth-place overall team finish, behind Munford, Dyersburg and Covington.
Jasmine Dysart won the girls’ shot put with a throw of 34 feet, two inches, and she also placed second in the discus with a toss of 92-8.
Jackie Hudson was right behind her teammate in both events, second in the shot with a 33-8 and third in the discus with a 91-6.
Chloe Smithson was second in the 1,600 run with a time of 6:36, while D’LeShea Olds’ 4-8 in the high jump was good for third overall.
As a team, the Lady Tornadoes finished 11 points off fourth place.
Union City had some other strong efforts in the boys’ meet, led by Tristan Jernigan’s second-place throw of 109 feet, five inches, in the discus.
Jernigan was fifth in the shot put with a 39-6, while Kane Taylor was fifth in the discus with a 102-7.
Williams was part of two third-place spots, running the 100 in 11.1 seconds and teaming with Jamie Hyde, Iora Smith and Alex Reid for a 43.3 in the 400 relay.
Donte Simpson was third in the 110 high hurdles, clocking a 17.4, finished fourth in the 300 hurdles with a 44.7 and teamed with Smith, Hyde and Reid for a fourth-place time of 1:35 in the 800 relay.
Simpson was also fifth in the high jump, clearing the bar at five feet, eight inches.
Tymaine Strickland placed fourth in the 200 in a time of 23.1.
Union City will host the Rotary Relays on Thursday and then the sub-sectional meet the following week.
