Union City cheerleaders awarded

BUSY SEASON — The Union City High School basketball cheerleaders put the final touch on a busy 2011-12 season at the school’s basketball awards banquet Monday night. Receiving special recognition for their efforts were (from left) Kaitlyn Wheeles, most spirited; Morgan Stone, best all-around; Ashlyn Chism, most dependable; and Mallory Speed, top underclassman. The cheer squad provided support for a total of 42 Union City wins and finished up the campaign in Murfreesboro as the Lady Tornadoes were 22-11 and reached the semifinals of the TSSAA Class A State Tournament while the Twister boys were 20-11 and advanced to the Region 7A semifinals.
