Obion County Central High School student Trice Mayhall of Union City will join 13 other high school students at the University of Tennessee at Martin to participate in the Tennessee Honor Percussion Ensemble Festival Thursday through Saturday.
The group will spend two days in practice and present a public concert at noon Saturday in room 112 of the Boling University Center on the UT Martin campus.
The students will present a piece for marimba choir titled “Lux Aurumque,” a selection for steel band called “Dain Brammage” and a challenging new percussion arrangement titled “Cyclone.”
The ensemble will also perform a Brazilian percussion arrangement by professor and performer Jorge Sacramento, who is visiting UT Martin from Brazil as part of the Duo Sacramento group.
The group will be under the instruction of Dr. Julie Hill, associate professor of music. The performance is free and open to the public.
