Gala celebrates the children

Lance Young at the 8th annual Taste of Weakley and Obion Counties Gala and Auction

VIVA LAS KIDS – Lance Young admired paintings created by Martin Primary School second-graders for the 8th annual taste of Weakley and Obion Counties held Saturday night. The students, along with their art teacher, Darlene Drummond, worked together to create six “Circle” paintings to be auctioned for the event, which is the largest fundraiser for the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse serving both counties. The affair featured a Las Vegas theme while nearly 25 restaurants or vendors set up in Volunteer Distributing offering a “taste” of their food at the annual event. This year’s gala and auction raised thousands of dollars for the center, with an attendance of nearly 300 people from across Weakley and Obion counties.
