| Union City not tested; Rebels fall |

Union City and Obion Central are ready for Round 2.
Both local tennis teams were in action on Monday, UC pulling off a double shutout over Milan with 7-0 wins in girls’ and boys’ action at home and OC suffering a sweep in girls’ play while splitting four boys’ matches at Dyersburg.
Action today will be at the Rebels’ home courts, located at the county fairgrounds in Union City.
UC-Milan
Union City’s closest calls were a pair of 8-4 wins, coming in singles play.
Jenna Miller posted an 8-4 decision over Jessica Cheeks at No. 3 in girls’ play, while Peyton Cox topped Charles Kirk by that score at the No. 2 boys’ singles spot.
Miller, Maddie King, Anna Moore and Tara Elam were all involved in two wins, as were Cox, Jacob Triplett and Devin King in boys’ play.
Ellen Bearden and Ellis Critchlow had wins at No. 5 in singles, while Will Thralls teamed with Cox in boys’ doubles.
OC-Dyersburg
Austin Riley was involved in both wins for the Rebel boys, defeating Jeff Betonio 8-3 at No. 2 in singles and then teaming with Dallas Mathis for a win in the lone doubles match.
On the girls’ courts, Marissa Howard came closest to a Lady Rebel win, falling 8-5 at the top spot in both singles and doubles, with partner Lindsey Castellaw.
